in these days, the streets of south korea are being filled with angry protesters every night.
the main issue is about the possible danger of mad cow disease from U.S. beef imports, but the street demos are evolving into a anti-government riot.
we, the people in korea who oppose the G8 summit, have been going to the candlelight vigils and street demos every day, trying everything we can to raise awarness about G8 and other neo-liberalism issues.
it is very exhausting because you have to walk, talk, shout, run, sing and fight the police 4-5 hours every night.
at first, we planned a two-day benefit concerts to raise money for the activists who are going to japan.

but since all we are talking about have been mainly domestic issues and and not many koreans hear about this year's G8 summit.
so we focused on raising awarness about G8 and its problems and then started a weekly anti-g8 street campaign where we give speeches, sing songs and show videos about anti-G8 struggle.

as more people get to hear about G8 and the newly elected right-wing south korean president wanting to kiss asses of the g8 leaders, we held the 2-day benefit concerts, called the Cat Festivial.
more than 10 progressive and radical music groups, performers and dancing groups appeared at the cat festival and about 150 people came to the concerts.

the cat festival was not the end of our struggle.
we are still doing the anti-g8 street campaign about 2 or 3 times a week incentral seoulwhere we can reach out to many citizens.

About 400,000 protesters gathered around central seoul on June 10.
it was a really huge demo, surely it wasthe biggest anti-goverment demo since June of 1987.
people who oppose G8 did many action on that day, we sang songs, played music and talked about democracywith thousands of people.
it was like people's direct democracy going on.

people seemed to have their own opinions on every issues.
anyways, we did a lot of tagging on the streets, police cars and targeted buildings using spray paint, but we also used laser beam to show our slogans to an extended group of people.
how cool was it!
