MIGRANTE Taiwan Chapter together with APMM and its allied migrant organizations in Taiwan and in other countries in the Asia Pacific region expresses its strong solidarity with the working people in Taiwan in this historic day of the working class.

International Labor Day celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement. Yet since the advent of neo-liberal globalization, those who adhere to this failed doctrine have intensified their attacks on these achievements.

MECO Ineffective in Resolving OFWs Problems

For the second time this year, Jia Chiarng Company in Taiwan illegally terminated this time 10 more complaining OFWs against its unfair labor practices. MECO supposedly had already blacklisted it and its Taiwanese broker but up to now has been ineffective in resolving the problems of its remaining workers.

但我們更確定的是，從七月一日起，台灣會有一群合法低於基本工資的家庭類勞工，
